Farm solar panels across Cumbria
We survey farm and agricultural building roofs throughout Cumbria, model what each one can carry, and arrange the design, the grid application and the install through our MCS-certified partner.

What the data says about Cumbria
Modelled yield is not flat across Cumbria. Barrow-in-Furness comes out at 893 kWh per kWp a year against 793 at Kendal, a spread of 100 kWh per kWp. On a 200 kWp farm array that difference is about 20,000 kWh a year, which is worth checking before accepting a generic saving figure.
Across the districts we cover in Cumbria the planning record lists 16 ground mounted and 11 roof mounted solar schemes. Ground mounted schemes tell you how the network here has treated field arrays; roof mounted ones are undercounted, because an array on a farm building rarely passes the reporting threshold. Connections across the county run through Electricity North West. Anything above 3.68 kW per phase needs a G99 application, and on rural feeders the incoming supply is often the real limit: a single phase supply caps the array whatever the roof would carry.
- Carlisle 806 kWh/kWp
- Barrow-in-Furness 893 kWh/kWp
- Kendal 793 kWh/kWp
- Whitehaven 855 kWh/kWp
- Workington 835 kWh/kWp
- Penrith 794 kWh/kWp
