Farm solar panels across North Yorkshire
We survey farm and agricultural building roofs throughout North Yorkshire, model what each one can carry, and arrange the design, the grid application and the install through our MCS-certified partner.

What the data says about North Yorkshire
Modelled yield is not flat across North Yorkshire. Scarborough comes out at 859 kWh per kWp a year against 799 at Skipton, a spread of 60 kWh per kWp. On a 200 kWp farm array that difference is about 12,000 kWh a year, which is worth checking before accepting a generic saving figure.
Across the districts we cover in North Yorkshire the planning record lists 8 ground mounted and 16 roof mounted solar schemes. Ground mounted schemes tell you how the network here has treated field arrays; roof mounted ones are undercounted, because an array on a farm building rarely passes the reporting threshold. Connections across the county run through Northern Powergrid. Anything above 3.68 kW per phase needs a G99 application, and on rural feeders the incoming supply is often the real limit: a single phase supply caps the array whatever the roof would carry.
- York 840 kWh/kWp
- Harrogate 831 kWh/kWp
- Scarborough 859 kWh/kWp
- Ripon 834 kWh/kWp
- Knaresborough 833 kWh/kWp
- Skipton 799 kWh/kWp
- Northallerton 817 kWh/kWp
- Whitby 849 kWh/kWp
