Farm solar panels across South Yorkshire
We survey farm and agricultural building roofs throughout South Yorkshire, model what each one can carry, and arrange the design, the grid application and the install through our MCS-certified partner.

What the data says about South Yorkshire
Modelled yield is not flat across South Yorkshire. Doncaster comes out at 856 kWh per kWp a year against 830 at Sheffield, a spread of 26 kWh per kWp. On a 200 kWp farm array that difference is about 5,200 kWh a year, which is worth checking before accepting a generic saving figure.
Across the districts we cover in South Yorkshire the planning record lists 6 ground mounted and 7 roof mounted solar schemes. Ground mounted schemes tell you how the network here has treated field arrays; roof mounted ones are undercounted, because an array on a farm building rarely passes the reporting threshold. Connections across the county run through Northern Powergrid. Anything above 3.68 kW per phase needs a G99 application, and on rural feeders the incoming supply is often the real limit: a single phase supply caps the array whatever the roof would carry.
- Sheffield 830 kWh/kWp
- Doncaster 856 kWh/kWp
- Rotherham 835 kWh/kWp
- Barnsley 839 kWh/kWp
- Wombwell 838 kWh/kWp
- Mexborough 847 kWh/kWp
