Farm solar panels across Derbyshire
We survey farm and agricultural building roofs throughout Derbyshire, model what each one can carry, and arrange the design, the grid application and the install through our MCS-certified partner.

What the data says about Derbyshire
Modelled yield is not flat across Derbyshire. Long Eaton comes out at 866 kWh per kWp a year against 805 at Buxton, a spread of 61 kWh per kWp. On a 200 kWp farm array that difference is about 12,200 kWh a year, which is worth checking before accepting a generic saving figure.
Across the districts we cover in Derbyshire the planning record lists 11 ground mounted and 14 roof mounted solar schemes. Ground mounted schemes tell you how the network here has treated field arrays; roof mounted ones are undercounted, because an array on a farm building rarely passes the reporting threshold. Connections across the county run through National Grid Electricity Distribution. Anything above 3.68 kW per phase needs a G99 application, and on rural feeders the incoming supply is often the real limit: a single phase supply caps the array whatever the roof would carry.
- Derby 862 kWh/kWp
- Chesterfield 843 kWh/kWp
- Ilkeston 855 kWh/kWp
- Long Eaton 866 kWh/kWp
- Swadlincote 856 kWh/kWp
- Buxton 805 kWh/kWp
- Belper 850 kWh/kWp
- Matlock 844 kWh/kWp
